Hi Simon,

In my opinion you'll be a very competent web developer. However, just like what others said you need to have a college degree in order for you to look for a decent job. You can look for jobs now but it would be hard and the salary wont be high since you don't have enough experience.

The best thing you can do is to get a collage diploma. For the mean time you can also help people create their website and in return you can ask for referral or give you credit when the it is done. There are people that looking some partner that I believe a good opportunity for you. It also help you build your reputation.

Another thing you can do in order to help you look for clients is to create a website and post some of your work their, which will help you market your skills.

You can also check this list of sites where you can look for job posts on web development.

Unfortunately most employers want you to have a college degree (before you can even get your foot in the door), and related experience.

That's the catch-22, how to get experience - when nobody will hire you without it. Some people take unpaid (or low paid) internships at firms, others freelance (which might be a good option for you).

Advertise your skills, and see if you can find someone looking for help creating, developing, or troubleshooting their websites. You can then add these to your resume.

You might have to take an unrelated job in the meantime, which can suck, but it also acts as a motivator to go out and get a better job, education, and more experience.

Good luck!

I agree with all. You should try to get a degree in any IT related stream which will help you get a decent job. however you can do a job along with it which you can find by searching itjobboard which list various categories of IT jobs for freshers as well as experienced

I agree with all the answers above.

First, you need to have a college degree. Second, experience is what it takes to compete with other applicants. How to get an "experience"? Well, I think you can try working for small businesses/look for a job online (companies that aren't big enough).

Most companies require at least a 2-year degree (associates degree) but prefer a 4-year degree (bachelors degree) in an area related to technology (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or IT)
