Intelligence is overrated and can't be changed. There are really two factors in having a good job. First, you need to choose a job that you are interested and excited about. What do you like to do? Second, you need to work hard and put the effort in to passing your classes and then exceling in your field. If your classmates and coworkers work 40 hours, you should work 50, etc. Hard work will outpace intelligence most of the time.

The USA will be begging for engineers. Get Calculus and math. I wish I had studied harder!
I just put a kindle book up dealing with what a mechanical engineer does. It is $10.00 but will help you more after getting experience.

If you aren't very smart, shoot for the trades. We won't be able to outsource electricians and plumbers. I know plenty of plumbers who do well. You have to be motivated and be able to delegate, once you have a business, hire someone to manage it and continue to do work yourself.
If you can do something unique, you'll be better off.
