which is better Testing or Web development . . . ?

as of now i'm working as an PHP Developer in a small firm since 9 months. I have been offered by the other company as an test engineer of the same package as i'm getting now.

Which 1 shall i choose ??
Is it better to continue in the same company .....??
What would you prefer me to do??

Basically speaking you should try to stick to your interests. Because that's where you can give your 100%. Tough both PHP development and testing are two different phases of s/w development, both are equally important. As far as development goes, its always a interesting part. But then opportunity wise, testing is far more ahead than PHP development. Today, PHP developer is not needed in all the companies but every company needs a tester.Testing is more considered as a higher level job which needs years of experience. As you grow your carreer in this IT sector, i personally think you should think of testing as a serious option.

For a lateral move (meaning you get no more money or better benefits), unless you really, really like testing and want to stick with it for a while, I'd stick with the Development. You don't want to job hop if you can avoid it and it doesn't sound like they're offering you much in return.
