What is the best blog/website host for me?

I'm trying to go for a site that can merge my personal, academic, and business life. I want a site that has free or cheap hosting. I want it to be personal so potential employers can see just who I am; it should include a feature with which I can blog. I want to have a place where I can post a resume and showcase writing samples. I love Xanga, but it is too much of a blogging website; and it would be hard to differentiate between different writing samples i.e. business plans versus creative nonfiction or social commentary. Tumblr is pretty, but much too simple for all the things I want to do. A Facebook fan page would be conceited and unprofessional for my skill level. Myspace is something I don't want to touch.

Please help. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I would do a wordpress/LinkedIn combo. Make a wordpress site for your blog and personal info, and have a nice big link to your LinkedIn site, which will hold all your professional info. LinkedIn is like Facebook -- all fill-in-the-blank, so it's easy to use.

Try http://www.my-web-host.com

I know they offer blog hosting among other things like automatic script installers that make everything a lot easier.. I think their hosting plans start at 4 - 5 bucks a month.

Host your own site using wordpress. Even register your own domain name.

That way, you get to absolutely control content and presentation style - plus who can read it.

what about blogher?

Or the google blog? If you have a gmail account you have an account to make a blog through google.
