I went skydiving on saturday for the first time. The main guy was like the Dude from Big Lebowski. (definately done some drugs in his day) and there was a trailer that served food called the Jumpin Jesus cafe. (mind you, this is Georgia) Haha, you first watch a video showing you typical rules and everything. We waited for awhile, then finally you get all strapped up and walk towards the plane. The plane ride was definately the scariest part for me. It was a former Air Fiji Plane that holds maybe 20 people. Our pilot was smoking a cigaratte and your stomach definately drops on the way up. Once you hit 14,000 feet you look down and it is a bit nerve wracking. Me and Crazy Mike, my instructor were the last two to jump out of the plane. You kind of squat like a catcher and hold your head up. I was kind of nervous because i saw the guy before me go and they drop like a bullet out of the plane. I kind of just looked out and said screw it. You do a flip out of the plane, but you're so high that you cant tell you're flipping. The guy tapped me and told me to hold my arms out. It is definately unlike any feeling you've ever had before. I definately didn't think i was in serious danger. You can see the ground and it is very loud with the wind, and extremely cold. All I could think about was my ears popping from the pressure. It really is a great feeling though as you fall for about 50 seconds. I was thinking it would be like jumping off a building, but your stomach actually doesnt drop. You kind of just have a lot of adrenaline feeling and a very I'm flying in the sky feeling. Then all of a sudden your chute pops open and kind of hurts your crotch. Then you look around and your instructor might let you steer. My guy thought he was funny and told me that our chute failed at first, but then he said just kidding. You kind of float around for about 5 minutes before you get to the ground and stand up and yell " THAT WAS AWESOME!!" I didnt pay $90 bucks for the video, but I dont know how much you really would watch it after the first couple weeks. It was definately worth it, and I most likely would do it again!!
