I have completed my B.E. Computer Science and I got a job in an MNC company, chennai. HR are asking to work as a Technical support. But I want to be a software developer. I requested for the developer position. They said, after 1 or 1.5 years, you can switch over to the development side. Is it possible to switch from technical support to software developer?

Yes, it is, but in my experience companies don't always make good on promises that you can transfer after x years in a particular post. If this happens to you then you'll have to find another company to work for, and you'll be competing against newer graduates for the same post.

If you want to be a software developer then I suggest you start out with a junior software developer post from day one. If the company you're working for don't have a post available then find another company that does.
